Join the conversation that began over twenty years ago with Breaking Ranks and the CSSR/NASSP Secondary School Showcases. The Center for Secondary School Redesign, together with The EdExcellence Group and High Tech High invite you to sunny San Diego for our 2nd Annual Redesigning for Student Success: Student-Centered Secondary Schools Showcase sponsored by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

This annual student-centered professional development showcase brings together over 20 of the nation’s most innovative and successful secondary schools to share their high school redesign programs and strategies. The Showcase provides administrators, school leadership teams, practitioners, and students an opportunity to deeply engage with transformational school leaders and discuss critical, relevant issues regarding the secondary school redesign process.

Building off the success of last year’s site visits, the 2018 Showcase will feature expanded options for site visits to transformational schools in the San Diego area. The 2018 site visit schools are:

Redesigning for Student Success will provide abundant networking opportunities for like-minded, innovative educators from across the country. Participants will have a chance to visit sites, listen to presentations, hear from students, and join roundtable discussions with top education reformers. In addition to cutting edge ideas and proven strategies, participants will build a network of like-minded secondary school educators who can support one another as they implement redesign programs in their own schools.

Showcase Agenda 


Buses will leave the Courtyard at 8AM and return at Noon or 3PM (depending on the sites(s) selected.) Visitors to High Tech High will be met by students and walk to the school.

Presenting schools will receive a stipend ranging from $500 – $750, based on the distance traveled, to help defer some costs. Waived registrations will be extended for two adult presenters and up to two student presenters from each presenting school. If interested you can submit a session proposal using our online submission form.

Proposals are due by October 10, 2017

Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, and enrollment is limited.

The registration fee is $475 per person on or before December 31, 2017. On or after January 1, 2018 the registration fee is $525 per person. Special rates apply for teams of four or more from the same school. A separate registration fee for the optional school site visits must be selected at the time of registration.

Registration and payment should be done online. All major credit cards are accepted. Registrants may also submit payment via check or money order made payable to The Center for Secondary School Redesign:

Registrants will receive a registration confirmation via email on the date that full payment is received.

Participants are responsible for their own transportation, lodging, non-included meals and parking costs.
